So last night we ate Chocolate Haupia Pie from Ted's and watched Point Break in its entirety (including the 27-minute foot chase), which apparently appeased the gods of surfing, since we woke up to 10-foot waves outside our window at Sunset Beach. After breakfast, my Dad and I headed out to take some photographs at Pipeline, which seemed to be 15- to 20-feet (to my untrained eye), with the occasional monster wave. Good times.
Jenny and I are on vacation, which is always nice. Photos from our time on Oahu will be posted on flickr. So far, we've had an amAzing sushi lunch at Sushi Sasabune, which we plan on replicating several times before we leave. We've driven to the North Shore, where we're staying on Sunset beach. We've watched the surf and plenty of surfers -- shortboard, bodyboard, windsurfer -- and even watched Riding Giants on DVD, a great documentary about big-wave surfing by the makers of Dogtown and Z-Boys. (Highly recommended.) Every morning, we've eaten pastries from Ted's Bakery, which is about a five-minute walk away. Today we're going to head over to the Turtle Bay resort and see what they have to offer. Stay tuned for more....
For Emily, who we wish was here to enjoy the scenery and the kick-ass soundtrack, I present a highlight from the International Bodyboarding Association's final tour event, the Rockstar Games Pipeline Pro. Word.
